Brief Description: Seat cushions, pitch servo, wheel pants
|
|
Added some mounting tape to the bottom of the seat cushions. The tape didn't hold to the Velcro very well, so I secured the Velcro additionally with some #6 trim screws/washers. Hopefully the screws don't feel like boulders after sitting in the plane for a few hours.
Did some mockup of the altitude hold pitch servo. I'm thinking of doing a weight and balance soon, so need to get all the misc. stuff mounted.
Did some 400 wet/dry sanding on the wheel pants after applying some 3M Glazing & Spot Putty #907 to minor low spots/pits I'll add more primer tomorrow and see if additional filling/sanding is needed. I hope not, this is tedious work, sometimes I feel like I'm going backwards. Seems the more I work it the more I need to do.
I've been looking for the brake cable, but remembered it was a "Hardware List" item and I couldn't find it at Aircraft Spruce, so I never ordered it. Ordered the inner and outer cable from Wicks today at $27 for the required 12 feet (including shipping). Since then I'm wondering if it could be found at a bicycle shop at close to the right size. A typical OD for bike brake cables appears to be 5mm, or about .010" larger than the specified 3/16" cable housing. It looks like the 5mm cable will fit the cable retainer ok. The inner cable might be 1.5mm, or about .003" under the specified 1/16" cable.
